I have been working on setting up a working VPN for several weeks and thought I would pass on what I found to work best. My VPN provider offers a Linux GUI, but it uses a ton of resources. OpenVPN and the command line works better and uses less resources and battery for me.
You will need to go to your VPN providers website and either generate or download and .opvn file
sudo apt install openvpn
sudo openvpn --config /path/to/opvnfile
for me that command looks like this:
sudo openvpn – config /home/Glockdoc/Downloads/AirVPN_Singapore_UDP-443.opvn
The downside is you will need to leave the terminal open to stay connected. Just use the split view or another terminal program if you need it.
If anyone knows a GUI that works better or how to utilize the VPN connection in settings feel free to leave it in the comments below.
