[Guide] Spotify - How to run Spotify on JingPad A1

Hello!

Here is a tutorial to make Spotify work on the JingPad.

spotifyd

spotifyd is a daemon that allows us to turn our Jingpad into a spotify device.

The first thing will be to install the necessary dependencies.

sudo apt install libasound2-dev libssl-dev libpulse-dev libdbus-1-dev curl

Then we will install rustup to be able to compile spotifyd.

curl --proto '=https' --tlsv1.2 -sSf https://sh.rustup.rs | sh

And we will execute source so that the terminal detects the binaries.

source $HOME/.cargo/env

We will compile spotifyd.

cargo install spotifyd --locked

And we will create the configuration file.

mkdir .config/spotifyd
nano .config/spotifyd/spotifyd.conf

In the configuration file we must put the following.

[global]
username = "your_spotify_username"
password = "your_spotify_password"
device_name = "JingPad"

Once installed and configured, we will create the service.

nano .config/systemd/user/spotifyd.service

In the service file we must put the following.

[Unit]
Description=A spotify playing daemon
Documentation=https://github.com/Spotifyd/spotifyd
Wants=sound.target
After=sound.target
Wants=network-online.target
After=network-online.target

[Service]
ExecStart=%h/.cargo/bin/spotifyd --no-daemon
Restart=always
RestartSec=12

[Install]
WantedBy=default.target

Then we start and enable the service.

systemctl --user start spotifyd.service
systemctl --user enable spotifyd.service

If all went well, the “JingPad” device should appear in Spotify.

spotify-qt

spotify-qt is a Spotify client that cannot play music by itself, but it can make Spotify devices play music.

As indicated by Maxximo88 in the Telegram channel, we can install it in the following way.

sudo snap install spotify-qt

And we execute the following so that the icon appears on the desktop.

sudo cp /var/lib/snapd/desktop/applications/spotify-qt_spotify-qt.desktop /usr/share/applications/

We open spotify-qt and we must follow the instructions that the software gives us to be able to login.

Here, “JingPad” should appear in the list of devices.

And now, to enjoy our music :smiley:
